The principal activity of the World Union is to maintain and improve contact among its members throughout the world. This costs money. In addition to the printing and postage costs which result from sending of 2000 copies of ETC several times a year, there are other costs associated with the maintenance and development of our internet site (http://www.jesuitalumni.org) for which Mario Soavi is responsible.
If we are to preserve our independence , these costs have to be met by our own resources, which are dues paid by member associations as provided for by our Statutes. Since the Sydney Congress in 1997 the rates are:
We apologize if these rates seem high. Some associations in particularly deprived areas may be unable to afford them. We will not cease to consider them as members of the Union. Everyone, however, should make an effort to carry out this duty in the best possible way.
