Main purpose

Develop and support the commitments of the Alumni/ae for people in need or hit by poverty, especially the refugees it is therefore considered as the "the social arm of the World Union".
Support Ignatian activities where Alumni/ae can be trained and commit themselves in the "love and help of others", especially the most needy.

Its budget

It is essentially provided by donations made by the Alumni/ae, either individually, or through their Associations or Federations, and within the framework of the Arrupe Dollar Campaign (PDF (94Kb)) according to the resolution 11 taken at the World Sydbey Congress in 1997: this resolution actually called upon the Associations and the Federations to deduct a dollar from the member fees, to be donated to the Pedro Arrupe World Association for the financing of its Great Lake current programme (PDF: 94Kb) together with the programmes which might be started on other continents in the years to come. Therefore, the Association emphasises its appeal for the year 2001, requesting the generosity of the Alumni/ae for this purpose.

Its structure

The Pedro Arrupe Association is placed under the supervision of the World Union. The President, the Secretary, and the Treasurer of the World Union, the members of the Executive Council, the two Vice-Presidents of the Association (who are in charge of the daily management and form the Executive Committee), together with the Father General's Delegate to the World Union, form the Board od Directors.
Its vector of information is ETC, the World Union magazine. Through ETC, the Association can inform periodically the Alumni/ae, their associations, and their Federations about its current programmes and its projects, and launch its appeal for the Arrupe Dollar Campaign.
