APPEAL from PAWA regarding  South East Asia’s TRAGEDY


PAWA is calling up all of you for your solidarity !


Today, Thursday 30, the tidal wave toll is currently:

  • more than 81,000 dead and 30,000 missing
  • millions of persons subject to lethal diseases if nothing is done in a very short time (according to Mr. David Nabarro, OMS General Director)
  • one million persons displaced in Sri Lanka, 29,000 in Thailand, 160,000 in India, according to the International Red Cross and the officials


PAWA is intended to bring up its aid to South East JRS teams , Caritas International network or any association linked to the Jesuit solidarity network, like Magis in Europe.
These two messages, received from P. Alonso s.j. (Entreculturas Director (Spane)  and Fr. Dave Stewart s.j. (YBJA Director )(U.K.)  are both focussed on two regions : that one of ACEH (Indonesia) and the other one in SRI LANKA, where Jesuit teams are currently at work . They insist on the fact that what is immediately needed is money to buy food, medicines etc…There will be other big needs in the future, linked to the necessity of the rebuilding of those areas.


PAWA is also in touch with our Indian Alumni from Kolkata .

APPEL de l’ASSOCIATION MONDIALE PEDRO ARRUPE CONCERNANT LA  TRAGEDIE DE L'ASIE DU SUD-EST


L’Association Mondiale Pedro Arrupe se mobilise, elle a besoin de vous pour manifester concrètement sa solidarité aux victimes de cette tragédie mondiale !


Raz de marée : information au jeudi 30 décembre 2004

  • plus de 81.000 morts et 30.000 disparus en Asie
  • "des millions de personnes risquent de contracter des maladies si rien n'est fait dans les plus brefs délais..."(M. David Nabarro, directeur de l'OMS)
  • un million de personnes déplacées au Sri Lanka, 29.000 en Thaïlande, 160.000 en Inde, selon la Croix Rouge et les autorités.

sociation Mondiale compte apporter son aide aux équipes du JRS de l’Asie du Sud-Est , de Caritas International, ou de toute autre association liée au réseau jésuite de solidarité comme le réseau Magis en Europe:
Les deux messages joints à ce message, reçus du Père Alonso s.j. (Directeur d’ Entreculturas (Espagne)  et du Père Stewart s.j., Directeur de YBJA (G.B. ), convergent sur les besoins et demandes concernant la region d’Aceh (en Indonésie) et le Sri Lanka où des équipes jésuites sont à l’œuvre . Ils insistent sur le fait que ce qui est demandé actuellement est de l’argent pour permettre à ces équipes d’acheter sur place nourriture, médicaments etc…Il y aura aussi plus tard de gros besoins de financement liés aux opérations de reconstruction des zones sinistrées.


L'Association Mondiale Pedro Arrupe est aussi en contact avec nos amis indiens de Calcutta .


Soyons donc généreux, via nos divers réseaux jésuites dont l’Association Mondiale Pedro Arrupe est l’un d’eux.
